And, since MRI uses an electromagnetic field to generate the image, rather than radiation, it’s assumed to be safer than other methods like CT scans. Until recently, creating the images required the individual to remain motionless, and it had been impossible to obtain a crystal clear picture of a continuously moving organ like the center. As a result, MRI can capture motion with much higher fidelity now, allowing doctors to create movies of organs moving in real-time. The experts write that they hope this technology can improve medical understanding of illnesses of the joints and cardiovascular.
